Arrest for Flower Display Theft
As the new Community Beat Sergeant for Knutsford I just want to update you regarding the theft of various items which were part of the Knutsford Day Spa's award winning RHS flower show display outside their premises. The theft took place over night Friday into Saturday just gone. You may be aware the theft has featured quite predominantly on local social media, as well as the Spa's own Facebook page, and no doubt it will be making an entry into this week's local paper due to its widespread coverage.
This incident was clearly condemned by the local community who, on the Knutsford Spa Facebook, made their feelings known and within hours numerous local residents were naming and shaming one of the offenders, identifying him from the CCTV stills. As a result, yesterday morning Knutsford Police arrested a male from the Knutsford area, interviewed him and charged him with theft.
The Spa owner is over the moon with the result.
I think this has sent a clear and strong message to our community that we DO get results. PC Ryan Ogden who investigated this offence said "Never has an investigation pleased me more than seeing the community coming together to their local constabulary solve something which has clearly annoyed our community."
Personally I am thankful that the residents of Knutsford have supported the Police in this investigation and i'm proud that my colleagues have dealt with this matter quickly and effectively resulting in a great result.
