DELIGHTED BREEDERS AT CHELFORD BLEU DU MAINE SALE
The Annual Sale of Bleu du Maine Sheep held at Chelford last week resulted in a cracking trade throughout, as many sheep exceeded their breeder's price expectations, some with considerable margins.
Paul Farmer, from Ashover, Derbyshire, again put forward a smart pen of Millenium Bleu shearling rams which peaked at 460 gns, when selling to K & J Davies, Knighton, Powys, others making to 440 and
420 gns, both going to Brian Griffiths, Newtown.
Ram lambs sold for 280 gns, also for a Millenium Bleu this time from Trystan Bevan, Caernarfon who saw the best of his pen sold to D Stamper, Preston.
Females also met a lively trade, with the best of the shearling gimmers from A Fearnley, Halifax making 300 gns to Messrs Duerden, Ulverston; whilst the ewe lambs peaked at 240 gns for an entry from the Aintree flock of Richard Pilkington, Wrexham, also going home to Ulverston.
