Bosley's Tug of War Charity Event
Tug Of War Teams Pull In The Pounds For The East Cheshire Hospice
Bosley Tug of War Club this weekend hosted a charity tug of war event in aid of the East Cheshire Hospice. Teams from around the country took part, as well as a few local teams who got together to form 6 a side teams to take part in a separate tug of war competition for those taking part in tug of war for the first time.
The event took place at Chelford Village hall, with teams flexing their muscles in different weight classes for mens teams, ladies teams and youth teams. Norton tug of war club from Staffordshire had a successful day winning 5 of the mens weight classes on offer on the day.
The home team Bosley Tug of War Club finished as runners up in the 620 kilos and 640 kilos competitions, whilst Lincoln Tug of War Club and Holland Tug of War Club from Staffordshire finished as runners up in the other heavier weight classes.
The 6 a side charity tug of war competition was won by Macclesfield Young Farmers Club, with the Academy Ninjas finishing as the runners up in a closely fought contest in the final, with Macclesfield Young Farmers winning by 2 ends to 1.
The tug of war event raised £200 for the East Cheshire Hospice.
Bosley spokesman Alan Knott thanked everyone who came along to support the event, with thanks being extended to Chelford Parish Council and their Village Hall Committee for providing the venue, and Olympus Trophies and the Bollington Brewing Company for supplying the prizes for the event.
Bosley Tug of War Club will be running the charity tug of war competition in aid of the East Cheshire Hospice again next year, so anyone interested in forming a team to take part should keep their eye out for the date next year.
Bosley are continuing their preparations to represent England in the 600 kilos competition at the UK Outdoor Tug of War Championships in Belfast at the beginning of August, where they will be competing against representative teams from the other UK countries.
