Chelford Station In Full Swing
Well, the franchise has changed and confusion reigns about how volunteer groups will work with the new franchise holder. Sadly, the confusion means that we no longer have the excellent services of our Station Adopter, David Stannard.
However, it's been reasonably warm and wet and no-one has told the weeds and grass to stop growing. Fortunately, the ranks of the station volunteers have swelled and so we've been taking on some Summer jobs.
The last week saw a lot of weeding and planting in most parts of the station gardens in an attempt to eke out Summer for a little longer. We've been really well supported by David Kent, Mike Jehan and CTARA who have supplied lots of lovely plants that will provide some structure to the beds through this year and into the following years.
Some of the other plans are proceeding, we've managed to cut the Crewe side hedge early this year and we hope that the effort will stop the rain dripping off the hedge onto you as you go up and down the road. Plans are afoot for the Crewe-side bank and we are re-thinking what to do about the gap.
If you're interested in joining any of the working parties throughout the rest of this year, please contact Peter Hammond (he's the handsome chap in the large picture) on 01625 861277
