Chelford Together is the new name for Chelford Tenants & Residents Association!

We have changed our name to reflect more of what we do now! The Association first started over 12 years ago as a tenants association, then we started to involve our wider community and more recently following changes in housing tenant consultation we have been focused more of helping our whole community. Our old name was rather a mouthful anyway, and we must move on to a new era.

Since our last article lots has been happening!

We continue to undertake our main aim of reducing loneliness by holding events ranging from coffee mornings, Sunday lunches, quizzes, Musial Moments sessions and Crafty Fridays. Our main venue that we use in Chelford is now managed by a new registered charity "Chelford Community Hub" which enables us to continue with our work in the community.

The venue needs to raise funds to pay for running costs and is available to hire for social or business events (eg training or meetings) The HUB just like Chelford Together has no paid staff just a band of willing volunteers who really want to make a difference to their community.
We are pleased that following work we undertook with Cheshire Living Well Dying Well that we have several new activities shortly to start in Chelford.

One of these is a befriending service which is called "Connecting Chelford". This really ties into our work, it means that people can be visited in their homes for a chat and cup of tea and get some company. We hope that with the help of the volunteer that some people may venture to one of our events. We all know what it is like walking into a room full of strangers, so if someone can accompany the newcomer the first few times it should really help.

We are also raising money for 3 external defibrillators for Chelford. With the help and backing of Knutsford First Responders we are looking at raising £6,000 to support this project, we have already raised enough for 1 machine, but still need help! Contact us if you can support us!
We are extremely grateful to local businesses who have supported us : Tony Boon Butcher, Lees Growers Supplies and D & PM Sheldon Dairies. Can you help?

We have been busy working with Cheshire East Carers Hub and are pleased that we are involved in Carers Week by holding an event on Thursday 14th June at Chelford Community Hub, Elmstead Road, Chelford, SK11 9BS 1pm to 4pm. It is open to all carers and cared for, even if yu don't live in Chelford! Come along and join us for tea/coffee and homemade cake and gain information from people who can support you! I always find it amazing that so many people just don't see themselves as a carer, they say "I'm only looking after my husband/wife/child" So many people miss out on support or help because they don't register themselves as a carer at their GP's or at Cheshire East Carers Hub.

There is so much help and support available, with training, social events, support groups and even grants to make your life easier. As a carer myself I know that at times it can be demanding, it's really important to have time out for yourself and get all the support you can! Help!

We need good quality hardback books for our Little Free Library ! (see photo)

Finally we are getting ready for our Summer Fete which is to be held on Saturday 21st July 2pm to 4pm Chelford Community Hub, Elmstead Road, Chelford. Admission free. Stalls included home made cakes, pickles jams and chutney from our Friday Craft Group, plants, raffle, the winner takes it all and everyones a winner. So please come along and see us!
