Quite a few people have contacted us to say congratulations to Laura Trott and Jason Kenny on their fantastic achievements at the Rio Olympics.
You might think that we're slow off the mark and that's true and deliberately so. We didn't know if it was widely known that British cycling's "Golden Couple" lived somewhere in the area and we're keen to respect everyone's privacy, even more so when they may be away from home.
There's also the thought that after 4 years of body-breaking toil to bring about their staggering achievements, they might appreciate the normal peace and quiet of Chelford. Apparently, they are looking forward to coming home, here's an interview from the Knutsford Guardian.
However, BBC North West Tonight blew their cover a little, albeit very carefully, so now we can say a massive congratulations to them for their wonderful performances, we're sure that everyone in the area is really proud to have them associated with our small community.
And a personal one from me; I hope this inspires Chelfordians to take up a sport for the sheer enjoyment of it or, who knows, world-beating performances.
Meanwhile ..... you'll have noticed that orange bikes have appeared at either end of the village and you have your Parish Council Chair to thank for procurement and painting. Let's make Sept 6th a good turn-out for the Tour of Britain!
