First New Guides
First Guides in new Chelford unit share outdoor cooking fun with the Brownies
The first Guides in the reformed Chelford Guide unit held a joint meeting with Alderley Edge Guides and Chelford Brownies to share some outdoor cooking skills.
Chelford Guides has re-started after a four-year gap when the unit was forced to close after 90 years in Chelford, due to lack of leaders. Volunteer leader-in-training Laura Chaffer has now re-opened the unit, which currently meets alongside Alderley Guides while Laura completes her training. It is hoped to move Chelford Guides back to Chelford Scout hut for the start of the autumn term in September.
In the meantime, Chelford Brownies were delighted to welcome the Guides to their meeting, for a fun-filled evening where they barbequed sausages and bacon, followed by chocolate bananas and toasted marshmallows. The rain stopped sufficiently for an outdoor treasure hunt, followed by indoor games and singing.
Laura said: "It was great to share some of our Guide activities with the Brownies, and I'm looking forward to there being Chelford Guides in Chelford Scout Hall again."
