A Full House For Sunday Lunch

Home » Newsroom » A Full House For Sunday Lunch

CTARA held one of their luncheons last Sunday and the event proved so popular that people had to be turned away. Astle Court Community Room was bursting at the seams with happy contented diners!

CTARA believe the food they serve is of highest restaurant quality enabling the community to get together, have good food and most importantly reduce social isolation!

All the meals and events CTARA organises are open to the whole community, but be quick as spaces fill up so quickly (visit their website www.e-voice.org.uk/chelfordtara for details)

There's no wonder they fill so quickly when you look at the menu served last Sunday at a price of £10 per head

Hollandaise Sauce and a Smoked Salmon & Prawn Mille-Feuille

The meals are produced by volunteers Mike Jehan and David Kent who, before they retired, used to run their own restaurant and catering franchise in a Lincolnshire Golf Club. Mike has been a Chef since leaving school and David has worked mainly "front of house" and for many years was a college lecturer in Hospitality and Catering.

Mike and Davids Restaurant in Lincolnshire "Rumours" was one of the first restaurants in Lincolnshire to receive the "Roy Castle Clean Air Award" as a " No Smoking" establishment, years before this became law! Mike and David ended up in Chelford as they decided they wanted a change from self employment and came to work for the late Lynne Murphy as House Managers at the Manor House, Chelford.

Since retiring they have continued to volunteer for CTARA, Alzheimer's Dementia Friends and are Community Ambassadors for Living Well Dying Well are are passionate about their community.
CTARA are always looking for volunteers to help with their work, and in conjunction with Chelford Church are starting a Befriending Scheme. For details phone 01625 861038 or email mikeanddavid@tesco.net
