Guides Start Again in Chelford
Chelford Guides is re-starting on Monday September 8th — and looking for new recruits.
For the time being, the start-up unit will meet at Alderley Edge Scout Hall, alongside Alderley Edge Guides, whilst new Chelford Guide leader Laura Chaffer completes her training. Laura is the mother of one of the current Chelford Brownies, and was keen to establish a follow-on unit in Chelford for her daughter and other young teenage girls.
After a couple of terms, if possible, the 'new' unit will relocate to Chelford Scout Hall.
In the meantime, any girl aged between 10 and 14 who is interested in finding out more about Chelford Guides is asked to contact Judy Povey on 01625 583199 or by email: email@example.com.
"Being a Guide offers young teenage girls the chance to socialise, learn new skills and interests, travel and add experience to their future CVs — all within the confidence-boosting environment of a girls-only group," said Judy. "You don't have to have been a Rainbow or a Brownie to become a Guide. New recruits to Guiding are very welcome. It's a chance to become part of the largest uniformed organisation for girls in the world."
Chelford Guide unit was forced to close about three years ago, due to lack of leaders. Prior to its closure, it was one of the longest-established Guide units in Cheshire, dating back to the early 1930s
We are due to start back on Monday, 8th September at 7.15p.m.
