Happy and Healthy in Chelford
Befriending Project — Nobody alone at Christmas
As part of the Befriending Project in Chelford, a member of the Chelford community has put forward an excellent idea, to support residents in our parish. It been suggested that people think seriously about offering a place at their Christmas table for someone who might be alone on Christmas Day.
Therefore, we hope that you will be encouraged by this idea, to check on your neighbours, particularly those who live alone or who may be alone this Christmas and offer them support. Many people do have relatives and friends with whom they will share the festivities but sometimes things don't work out, or bad weather might make travelling impossible so plans can fall apart at the last moment. If people know they have an open invitation with a near neighbour or friend it can help reduce anxiety as well.
Apart from Christmas Day, there are days throughout the year, when it might be nice to invite others round for a drink, or a meal. Please offer the hand of friendship, particularly to those who would welcome some company and be a good neighbour.
Wishing everyone in Chelford a friendly, neighbourly Christmas.
