Lower Withington WI Report
The formal part of the evening was kept to a minimum as it was to be a DIY evening. Lesley Waddington thanked Sheila Gallimore for all her hard work in co-ordinating the shoe boxes. Twenty were sent to Congleton churches for transportation to Romania to Congleton House which is an orphanage in Toroko which is being maintained by the charity Children of Romania (Congleton.
Cheshire Show is already on the horizon for 2015 but there have been some changes to some of the classes two of which have been taken out which is unfortunate as these were ones in which Lr. Withington excelled.
Our speaker arranged for the evening could not come but Wendy Edmunds stepped into the breach and showed us two flower arrangements using pumpkins. We had an early tea break and then we were all given half a pumpkin and a bunch of flowers in autumnal colours and told to help ourselves from bags of foliage plants and make our own arrangements.
We all had a lovely time and went home with really lovely displays, the tricky bit was transporting them but after two weeks my own display is still looking good. Thanks were given for all the hard work in sourcing all the materials and preparing all the pumpkins which must have been hard work.
Our next meeting is our AGM on 26th. November when the Ringheye Morris Dancers of Mobberley will be entertaining us. The competition is a quotation the winner will be included in our 2015 programme.
