Neighbourhood Plan Update

Home » Newsroom » Neighbourhood Plan Update

The Plan has now been updated and completed, taking into account some of the comments received from the recent 6 week consultation. All relevant documents have now been finalised and will now be submitted before the 23rd January, to Cheshire East to comply with Regulation 15. The work of the Chelford Team is now done, subject to the examination report.

The Plan has taken almost two years to complete and has involved a number of volunteers spending many hours meeting, discussing, researching and writing numerous drafts. Advice and guidance has been provided by a Cheshire Community Action consultant, Lucy Hughes, Cheshire East Neighbourhood Planning Officers under the leadership of Tom Evans and Cheshire Wildlife Trust consultants.

The Plan is now effectively in the ownership of Cheshire East and it will be publicised for further consultation for a period of 6 weeks. All the relevant documentation will continue to be available via the Parish Council website under the Neighbourhood Plan link-
www.chelfordparishcouncil.org.uk
The final submission can be found in the Neighbourhood Planning link under Regulation 15. Comments and responses to the recent 6 week consultation can be found in the Consultation Statement.

Cheshire East will arrange for an independent Inspector to examine the Plan and issue a report. Subject to the Plan meeting the appropriate criteria, Cheshire East will arrange a formal referendum and issue ballot papers to all residents. Chelford Parish Council and the Neighbourhood Planning Team will have no input or involvement in this process.

The question that the referendum has to ask is: "Do you want Cheshire East Council to use the neighbourhood plan for Chelford to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?"

Anybody registered to vote in the area covered by the Neighbourhood Plan will be entitled to vote. A simple majority of votes (over 50% of those voting) in favour of the Neighbourhood Plan is sufficient for it to succeed.

We will keep you updated regularly on this website and the Parish Council website
