Open Days: Alderley Edge Mines
Many of you will know that the copper mines on Alderley Edge have been worked since the Bronze Age (c. 4000 BC) to the early 20th Century.
Lots of the mines and levels are still in existence and Derbyshire Caving Club do a lot of exciting exploration and research.
Derbyshire Caving Club will be offering another chance to visit on September 5th and 6th when there will be tours of the Wood mine.
If you haven't done this before, it comes highly recommended as there's a long and fascinating history and a lot of amusing (and sad) anecdotes about the mines.
