Show & Sale of Suckled Calves
6TH ANNUAL SHOW & SALE OF SUCKLED CALVES
Auctioneer: Jonathan Farrall
The first Suckled Calf Sale of 2014 was well received by a packed ringside and a first class trade ensued.
Cattle finisher and regular Chelford supporter Martin Wilcock had the daunting task of picking the prize winners and eventually picked a very smart 3/4 Blue Heifer as his Champion. The Heifer, born April, bred and exhibited by Mick Berrisford, Betley made £940 to the Judge Martin Wilcock. Reserve Champion came from the same stable, a 6 month old Bull of similar breeding and making £880 to Stephen Eastwood, Emley.
Other noteable prices included Jonathan Worthington`s 2nd Prize Heifer at £840, Keith Roddy`s 5mo Heifer at £810. The best pen of 4 or more came from Mick Berrisford and made £795 just pipping a super pen of Charolais x Steers from Peter Allen at £770.
We are indebted to our sponsors; HJ LEA OAKES LTD, TCS MANAGEMENT AND D & J WORTHINGTON for their generous sponsorship once again and to Martin Wilcock for giving up his time to judge the classes.
