Special Sale Of Pigs
Wright Marshalls auctioneer Nigel Ashley conducted a Special Sale of Breeding Pigs at their Chelford Auction Centre in Cheshire.
The extra breeding pigs helped swell the numbers in from the usual weekly from 300 to 437 which comprised of 26 cull sows and boars; 150 butchers pigs; 209 store pigs and 36 breeders.
Regular and new purchasers had travelled from all corners of England and Wales which resulted in a tremendous trade throughout.
The sale commenced with the Dispersal of the Galgate Herd of Pedigree Welsh on behalf of Messrs Bartley, Lancaster.
Joint top price went to two in-pig sows Burry Impish and Burry Emma at 540 gns, stock boar Burry Leo realized 300 gns and a young boar, 14 week old, out of Burry Impish made 260 gns.
Top price of the day went to Coalyeat Judy 153G, an in-pig Hampshire gilt at 560 gns from Mr J Sutcliffe, Ulvester.
David Pawson sold the top priced Pietrain, again an in-pig gilt at 380 gns
