Village Stands Together
Chelford villagers gathered this evening at the Scout Hut to stand together in solidarity with all those so badly affected by the appalling attack on the MEN Arena. #WeStandTogether
Although, as far as we know, no-one from our village was harmed in the attack, tragically one young person from Holmes Chapel High School was killed and one badly injured. It was important to give their Chelford classmates and friends the chance to reflect and talk about this in the company of friends, family, Scout Leaders, teachers and neighbours. It's important for the young people of our small community to know that there are lots of people who want to keep them safe and happy. We felt we needed to show sympathy for our near neighbours, so cruelly affected by this terrible act.
The vigil was organised by Scout Leader, Joe Adshead and was led by the Rev Gerri Tetzlaf. Gerri's address helped us to understand that good always prevails in spite of such awful events and the best way for us to face the future is to stand together and love each other.
As I type this, I can hear the Beavers from 1st Chelford Scout Group shouting at the fun of a game of rounders. Well done, Joe and Gerri.
