Well Done Chelford
Well it rained , it poured and we all got wet, but the residents came out in force to attend the Church Fair followed by the Birthday Bash. Thanks to the marquee sponsored by Wright Marshall, we managed to keep most activities under shelter, including the school children dancing and once the bar opened, the party got into full swing. With generous donations from Cheshire East, Chelford Village Hall and Chelford Parish Council, bunting was in abundance, with table decorations and flags adorning the marquee and school premises.
Bar staff Boon, Brindley and Wilson kept the drinks flowing, courtesy of the Egerton Arms and thanks to sponsor A J Boon Butchers, we served 140 hog roast barms (bread supplied by sponsor Roberts Bakery) , followed by strawberries and cream sponsored by G P Green Electrical. The scouts and guides supplied burgers and hot dogs for those who fancied a top up. For those who need some light relief, Chelford Mobile Services kindly sponsored the portaloos.
The CTARA contingent sent the disco into overdrive, as they strutted their stuff and gave a resonating chorus to the golden oldies played by the DJ (sponsored by Chelford Farm Supplies). Fittingly, Tony Boon was drawn as the winner of name the Stobart lorry and we now wait with interest to see who will have the honour of travelling up and down the country for the next 3 years.
Overall, a thoroughly good day and thanks to all those who braved the weather and supported the event. Thanks to all sponsors (see previous article) for making the event possible and thanks to Mrs Scott, Headteacher and the School PTA for supporting the celebration and allowing the school to be used. Special thanks to the committee of volunteers who spent considerable time devising and implementing plans to make this a great success. Particular mention should be given to Sue Roycroft, June Leach, Sue Swain, Barbara Wilson, Kakoli Chaudri, Joe Adshead and Gerri Tetzlaff.
