MONMOUTHSHIRE MARKET PEDIGREE SALE
Chelford, Cheshire based Auctioneers Wright Marshall were pleased to hold the Dispersal Sale of the White Farm Herd of British Blue Cattle at Monmouthshire Market, Raglan, last Wednesday on behalf of Messrs Baldwin.
The sale was well supported by British Blue breeders from across England and Wales, and peaked at a top of 3200 gns for the 2007 born cow White Farm Clover, sold with her March born heifer calf by Astbury Electric. Clover is by Herts Trojan, and out of the As De Trefle sired Boothlow Skippy, and was sold 6 to 7 months back in calf to Astbury Electric, the excellent stock bull. The outfit was purchased by Graham Morgan of the Almeley Herd, Hereford.
White Farm Blackberry a 2006 born cow by the Boothlow Turbo sired White Farm Volcano, and out of Hazelwood Tessa, a Jake daughter, was also sold with a heifer calf at foot, this time White Farm Kite, also sired by Electric. She was also 6-7 months back in calf, and made 2400 gns to Messrs Yandle, DUlverton, Somerset.
A number of Pedigree Blue cows were sold with Parthenais cross calves at foot, a top price of 2450 gns being achieved for White Farm Eliza, a daughter of the Dafydd sired High Moss Batman, and out of the Herts Trojan sired White Farm Amber. She was sold with a March born bull calf, 7-8 months back in calf to Electric, and went home with St Wulstans Farm, Monmouth.
The oldest cow, the 2000 born brood cow Hazelwood Sable, sold 5-6 months in calf to Electric and made 1650 gns to Wellington, Somerset based Newpole Livestock.
Leading the served heifers was White Farm Iris a 2013 born daughter of Pawton Valiant and out of the Herts Trojan sired Aphroditise. Six months in calf to Electric, she made 2000 gns to the Stoneleigh Herd of E C Haste, Shebbear, Devon; whilst the maiden heifers also peaked at 2000 gns, this time for White Farm Jigsaw, an Electric daughter out of the Herts Trojan sired White Farm Wilma, going home to Monmouth with St Wulstans Farm.
The November 2009 stock bull Astbury Electric bought out of the Astbury Dispersal sale as a calf at the foot of his dam, made 2100 gns to G S Brown, North Molton, Devon. His seven sons offered for sale attracted considerable interest throughout, particularly for the February 2014 born White Farm Jasper, out of another Herts Trojan sired cow, the well thought of White Farm Clover.
