The tale of a snail and puppy-dogs' tails
A Giant African Land Snail joined young prayer reader Jenson Swain at Chelford Church's annual Pet Blessing service on October 6th.
'Kawasaki', Jenson's pet, appeared to enjoy his moment in the limelight, as he joined numerous dogs – and their well-behaved owners – at the family service in Chelford Primary School hall.
Chelford Guides Kizzy Swain and Connie Williams delivered the Bible readings, and Chelford Brownies Isabelle and Alice Kenward, Katie Levinsohn and Ottilie Swain, helped by Alice Mendham, read the prayers.
Service Leader, Church warden Brenda Massey had prepared a light-hearted quiz about animals and wildlife, and congregation member Tina Richardson gave a lovely talk about St Francis of Assisi and the importance of pets in helping us care for God's creatures.
The service ended with a social time of coffee, tea, squash and yummy home-made cakes.
There's a similar short family-friendly service organised by Chelford Church in Chelford School on the first Sunday of every month at 11am, so please come along and meet everyone, if you haven't already done so. Yummy cake guaranteed every time!
