It's almost ten years now since the opening of Chelford Activity Park which was both a leap of faith by the then Parish Council and the culmination of a vigorous and successful community project. The combined efforts of Chelford residents raised £60,000 to pay for the building of the Multi Use Games Area. Click on the picture for the back story.
At the time, it was unusual for a small village like Chelford to have such facilities but the Parish Council, being mindful that the village was about to expand, was committed to providing improved sports facilities for all.
With funds generated by the two new housing developments and a contribution by the Parish Council, Cheshire East Council has published plans to enhance the facilities of the Activity Park on the village field close to the village hall. The project, which is the result of public consultation and the involvement of the Parish Council, will involve substantial re-equipment and layout re-design, as well as improvements to the MUGA surface (click on the plan for the details). It is hoped that work will commence in the next few weeks and be completed for summer.
