by Ruth Watt
Archie Watt sadly passed away on 19th December 2021
Archie had lived on Dixon Drive since 1976 and been an active member of the community for many years.
When his children, Helen, Bruce and Ruth attended Chelford village school in the 70's he always helped out with setting up for sports days.
He was a Sidesman at Chelford Church for some time and in later years he helped by delivering the Parish Magazine.
Archie's wife, Melita passed away in 2020 and Archie missed her enormously but bravely carried on for as long as he could.
People in the village may have seen him whizzing around on his mobility scooter, visiting Boons the butchers, Chelford Farm Supplies and the Surgery on a regular basis.
After starting to use a scooter he launched a campaign with Cheshire East to have several pavementaccess areas lowered on the estate to make easier access for all wheelchair and scooter users and for people with pushchairs.
He was certainly a character that people never forgot.
Archie's funeral will take place at Macclesfield Cemetery on Wednesday 12th January at 11am for anyone who wishes to attend.
Donations will be sent to Diabetes UK.
