Some good news for all of you out for a walk. We were informed last night by Mr Curtis of Astle Estates that the footpath from Alderley Road to Stubby Lane has re-opened now that the water level has been reduced.
You'll recall that over winter, with the exceptional rainfall, the level of the water in the lakes rose and the path was submerged over a long section.
Pumping work and the drier spell have remedied this and the path is now open again. Thanks to all involved in getting this done.
The swallows, swifts and larks are in the air and the lapwings and oystercatchers have bred again this year. There's a lot of lovely wildlife to see from this useful route and it's great to see it back in use.
IMPORTANT
Much of the land in this area is farmed with animals so if you are walking the dog, please ensure he is on the lead if you even suspect that he might come into contact with animals. And, as always, please pick up after your dog and dispose of the waste at home.
Although paths like this are Public Rights of Way, they are a privilege, so please look after the land as if it were your own. Please stay on the path and do not stray into the surrounding fields or to the lake shores.
