Holly Tree Plans Refused

pepper street scheme

The plans to build a retirement/ care community on the site of Holly Tree House, Pepper Street have been refused by councillors, at the Cheshire East Strategic Planning Board meeting held on February 2nd. Councillors rejected the plans outright, with no member of the Committee offering support for the development on the land owned by David Hughes. Members agreed with the recommendation by the Planning Officer, that this was an inappropriate development on the Green Belt and that there were no exceptional circumstances which could be demonstrated to override this judgement.

It was determined that such a development would have a negative impact on the open countryside; cause harm to the local biodiversity and would place an additional, unwelcome burden on already stretched local surgery services. The plans also offered no provision for any affordable homes and any contribution towards additional local facilities.
