Ahead of the formal announcements we have been informed of the resumption of key operations at Manchester Airport. Following the easing of travel restrictions on 11th February, passenger numbers continue to grow at Manchester Airport. To allow for the additional flight movements, the airport is set to reopen Runway Two from Tuesday 5th April.
An Airport representative stated:
"Initially it will operate for a limited number of hours each day and will gradually increase as the demand continues to rise. After almost two years of closure, it is a positive step forward on the road to recovery to be able to reopen Runway Two.
It's a clear sign of the pent-up demand there is from our passengers and the eagerness to travel now restrictions have been eased further. We are aware many passengers won't have flown for a long time so would always encourage them to prepare for their airport journey in advance, and to remind themselves of the rules around security and hand luggage."
Even though testing restrictions have been eased for the double vaccinated, passengers are still reminded to check the advice for the country they are travelling to in advance of departure. Passengers with specific queries about their flights should contact their airline directly.
