Firmly part of the WI December events are the Xmas decoration classes, the first of which is wreath making. Clearly word had got around how good these are, and we had 15 at the class so every table was taken.
WI ladies and their guests were given a demonstration by Marilyn Lloyd from Goostrey WI, she makes it look so easy. After some encouragement and re assurance to those that were new wreath making, we all set to work.
Lucky for us, one lady had a holly tree felled that day and brought along a massive bag of foliage for all to use. We didn't need asking twice. Two keen ladies, delving into the enormous bag of holly, to select just the right foliage – perfect for our wreaths
Marilyn came around to each of us offering advice, tips and the odd adjustment. The results were super, an array of beautiful wreaths each one different.
After all that hard work, and in true WI style, we ended the evening with a cup of tea and cake.
A quick photo session to show off our work and then Marilyn explained what we would be doing at the next class.
We left with wreaths in hand discussing what designs we had in mind. We'll report back.
The group showing off their creative work.
If you are interested in joining us, look out for the notices and come along to the Village Hall. It's a wonderful way to meet local ladies. You can be sure of a warm welcome.
