The start of the gardening year at the station is always a hard time, after the battering of Winter. The station is an exposed and tricky site but this year, the Friends of Chelford Station were given a very welcome helping hand from the Thales company.
Thales are a company with over 77,000 employees worldwide and they operate in the markets of defence and security, aerospace and space, digital identity and security, and transport.
It was staff from the transport arm who came on a very wet day to work at Chelford station. They worked very hard and were extremely helpful and cheerful despite the shocking weather. For staff who were based in London, it was probably a shock to spend time working on a small, rural station in torrential rain. Not so much of a shock for Chelford's station volunteers who have learned to expect such conditions.
The station area received a much needed post-winter tidy and all that is needed now is to start again following the recent warm and wet period.
